OCZ, Corsair and Gskill fight speed and density battle
EVEN AS INTEL announced its new-generation DDR3-optimised mainstream P45 and G45 chipsets - finally - the memory itself hasn't yet become mainstream in its pricing. While some vendors like Kingston and Corsair will emphasise their 'value' DDR3 module price-to-performance ratio, the overall focus is still on that second feature - performance.
And, oh yes, add capacity to it. As we mentioned before, high capacity DDR3 modules in 2 x 2GB kits would have reached DDR3-2000 speeds, as Corsair and OCZ already offer by now. Take a look at some of the interesting offerings here - a comparison between Corsair 4GB DDR3-2000 CL9 kit on an Asus Striker II Extreme mobo mentioned earlier by Charlie and zoomed in this time, vs, say, OCZ's water-cooled DDR3-2000 kit:
And, not to forget, our favourite hard-core gamer John "Fatal1ty" was there at the OCZ booth promoting their new mainstream "Fatal1ty" branded memory - and no, obviously this is not Jonathan, but the lovely Jessica from OCZ holding it.
Talking about OCZ, ever wondered how their memory water cooling works when those DIMM tubes are oh so much thinner than the big fat usual 3/8-inch tubing? As you can see on the photo above, here's the answer - split first, then come back together. And yes, yet another Asus mobo, this time an X48, on a memory ve ndors' booth - more than just coincidence?
Something very interesting at the Gskill place: ever wanted 16GB RAM in your PC, I mean on the usual four-slot single-CPU mainboard? Here's something for both Intel and AMD owners to cheer about then: a 4 x 4GB DDR2 DIMM kit giving you that much RAM! Shurely enuff even for the next Windoze 7 to boot, at least? Or to run memory-intensive workstation stuff on your desktop? However, do make sure that your mobo can address that much... and don't be upset with its CL6-6-6 latency!

Maybe it's just me, but I don't trust liquid cooling. I know it's much safer than in its infant days, but I'd rather see something like attachable pipes from 2 or 4 DDR3 sticks leading to one of Sapphire's ingenious Toxic coolers than those goo-filled tubes all over the motherboard.
4 Gb stick in perfect set of 4 with fair latency is near 8 steps to Heaven. Individual Latency lower than 4 dosn't show up as much noticable improvement, as theres just 20-40 TOTAL latency minimum for fastest system & these probably have Not much more than total latency of 60+(barely noticable), depending on main. average latency is 80 in many systems & 100 is ?aging, 200 means problems somewhere, You notice that long total latency Much, Due to Complexities of System BAD.400 is WAY Too Much.(100%Defective) Eyes Bug Out, Tongue Shivers (like rascal Snake,testing its' Prey), Nose asniffing. Food On Table, From What article Describes. 4X4.Engage Brain,Buy Memory Pact. Remember, Wear Latex Glove When Handling memory (by edges) thats NEW, It will Harmonize better. Drashek

Be wary of EPP 2.0 (SPD) implementations on 790i motherboards. They pretty much don't work yet. You CAN get your ram to work at 2000Mhz by manually setting the timings in BIOS, but don't expect EPP 2.0 to do it for you. I have personally witnessed failure of EPP 2.0 on an ASUS Striker II Extreme, and both EVGA and XFX 790i motherboards with OCZ and Corsair ram. (haven't tried Gskill but it doesn't matter really. It's the motherboard BIOS that is the problem.) (side note: yes, I'm going to continue to bitch about this until the motherboard manufacturers get busy with implementing EPP 2.0 correctly.)

@cool Don't take this the wrong way...she's not exactly ugly...but can't OCZ try a little harder for a booth babe? At the very least, she shouldn't be wearing so many clothes. This is a computer expo for crying out loud!
